About Arts4Choice

Our Story
Hi there! Welcome to our story. Let’s head back to the beginning.

After Roe v. Wade was overturned in June of 2022, me, Olivia Hanson, founder & creator of Arts4Choice, was furious with the government’s decision to take away a woman’s choice of whether or not to have an abortion. As a woman, and as someone who relies on birth control to keep my endometriosis from taking over my life, I could not keep quiet on this issue. (Please see the Yellowhammer Fund’s ActBlue page for more details.)

As an actor who has performed in productions with a message or purpose behind them, I knew the best way to make noise was to use my art. But instead of keeping it just to actors, I wanted to open it up to other performance artists who not only felt the same anger I did, but who also wanted to use their art for good.

From there, Arts4Choice was born, and in October of 2022, the first production for abortion access and reproductive justice went on. But it didn’t stop at one show, it kept going until I saw what was coming for us at the beginning of 2025, and I knew a change needed to happen.

Expanding the Vision
In January of 2025, a sad reality hit when the administration changed. I still wanted to raise money for reproductive justice and abortion access, but I couldn’t just watch as the LGBTQ* community was being attacked left and right.

I decided to expand our mission: to fight for reproductive justice and abortion access AND for our LGBTQ* friends and family members. Our goal remained the same: to channel the power of art into action.

What’s Next?
Arts4Choice is committed to raising funds for organizations that make a difference. While we started with the Yellowhammer Fund, our scope now includes the Equal Justice Initiative, Genderbands, and others. You can learn more about the organizations we support on our Donations Page. We envision a society in which life decisions are made free from coercion, shame, or state interference, a society in which individuals and communities have autonomy in making healthy choices regarding their bodies, minds, and their futures. We commit ourselves to community education and empowerment, policy advocacy, and the development of mutual aid to ensure that our friends, families, and neighbors never go without the critical resources they need.
